Role Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to plan the delivery of the operation, in line with the wider business strategy. This role involves producing challenging budgets, analysing and creating forecasts, reports, effective plans and processes to improve service levels, efficiencies and productivity rates throughout the warehouse

A typical day in this role includes:

• Plan the delivery of the warehouse operation through a process of continual improvement in service levels, efficiencies and productivity with the Logistics Operations Manager and the Head of Logistics
• Produce challenging budgets for the operation, reviewing these on a quarterly basis
• Provide short term ‘tactical’ forecasting particularly around peak and challenging trading periods
• Development of a robust reporting suite for warehouse KPI’s and critical output to other areas of the business.
• Research and develop the best logistics processes drawing on the wider AS Watson BU knowledge base
• Innovate ‘best in class’ logistics solutions accelerating the pace of change throughout our O+O operation
• Analyse business data before creating and presenting forecasts and plans for the operation to the Head of Logistics
• Present and discuss budgets with the Logistics Operations Manager and the Department Managers, sharing key analytics and plans to assist in the smooth running of the operation
• Produce effective work plans with the Logistics Operations Manager, including requirements for permanent and temporary labour and equipment on an annual basis, and provide the means to review these
• Assist the Department Managers in creating effective plans for peak as well as promotional and seasonal activity
• Continually review and challenge warehouse processes to drive efficiencies and productivity
• Regularly review and update all Process Maps and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring any recommendations are shared with the Logistics Operation and Department Managers
• Review and update Stock Control Procedures in conjunction with the Security Manager, ensuring the teams can adhere to these and maintain excellent standards of stock accuracy
• Ensure that the warehouse is a safe place to work and is compliant with appropriate Health and Safety regulations
• Support the Head of Logistics in identifying warehouse capability focusing on service improvements
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring you understand upcoming changes including promotional and peak activities
• Produce reports on a regular basis to share key logistics data with the wider business, ensuring effective actions plans are developed for the Department Managers to implement
• To provide the Department Manager – Inbound and Stock Control with an appropriate level of management ensuring the team are working in line with the strategy

This job is a good fit for you if you:

• Have knowledge of warehouse operational procedures on an end-to-end basis, ideally within the retail industry
• Have strong analytical, problem-solving skills and influencing skills
• Have good financial literacy and budgeting skills
• Have strong team leadership and management skills
• Have previous experience in project planning

What you’ll need:
• Knowledge of retail warehouse operational procedures on an end-to-end basis (goods-in to despatch) – for both store and customer fulfilment
• A good understanding of supply chain systems – WMS and ERP
