Working together with the People Partner – Head Office & Warehouse the purpose of the role is to deliver an effective, timely and commercially focused HR generalist service to the Head Office and Warehouse teams. 

Key Duties / Responsibilities
• Act as the first point of contact for all day to day HR queries for Head Office & Warehouse by telephone, email and in person, escalating complex queries when needed 
• Provide coaching and advice to Line Managers, Supervisors and Team Leaders on people related issues, including but not limited to the proactive management of absence, lateness, performance management and Disciplinary and Grievance issues, escalating to the People Partner – Head Office & Warehouse when needed
• Ensure all HR policies and procedures including the People Books are kept up to date by reviewing once per month to ensure they are legislatively compliant and reflect any Company policy changes 
• Work with employees and Line Managers to ensure HR policies and processes are applied fairly and consistently 
• Build the HR skills and capability of Line Managers and new starters when needed through facilitation, guidance and training 
• Manage the formal and informal Flexible Working process for Head Office & Warehouse employees
• Manage the maternity /paternity / adoption processes for Head Office & Warehouse 
• Monitor the induction of new starters and internal transfers, whilst coaching Line Managers on Probationary Period deadlines and objective setting, ensuring all associated paperwork is completed correctly 
• Attend and note take at formal meetings when needed, ensuring comprehensive notes are taken and outcome letters are issued according to Company timescales 
• Provide all relevant paperwork to the People Services Manager in time for each payroll, ensuring payroll related changes are processed accurately 
• Ensure changes to employee status including but not limited to suspension, sickness absence and maternity leave are communicated to the Payroll team in a timely manner 
• Produce reports with analysis as required, ensuring you contribute to the completion of the monthly People Report
• Provide the details of new starters, leavers and job changes to the Internal Communications Coordinator on a weekly basis for the People Update 
• Support the People Partner – Head Office & Warehouse in creating and updating job descriptions for all roles within Head Office and Warehouse, ensuring they are benchmarked ahead of recruitment taking place and in line with Department needs 
• Ensure that organisational charts for Head Office and Warehouse are updated at least once a month 
• Contribute to People initiatives and projects when required, including but not limited to the employment engagement survey and performance management 
• Travel to Dunstable Warehouse at least twice per week, and occasional travel to offsite meetings

• Previous experience in a HR Advisor or Senior HR Assistant role
• Experience of having advised and coached Line Managers on a broad range of HR issues 

• Up-to-date and thorough knowledge of employment legislation 

• Good MS Office Skills 
• Able to write good quality, accurate letters, emails and policy
• Strong communicator and confident to speak to all levels of employees 
• Able to organise workload independently 
• Able to demonstrate accuracy, task completion and attention to detail 
• Able to work under pressure and juggle priorities 
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential as some travel will be required


• Experience of having worked in a HR role within a retail or warehouse environment
• Experience of updating policies and procedures would be an advantage 

• Some basic knowledge of HRIS such as Oracle or other data systems
• Excel skills
