Purpose of the role
Working together with the HR Manager, the purpose of the role is to ensure that an effective, timely and commercially focused HR service is delivered to the Head Office and Warehouse teams, primarily business partnering with Line Managers, with the support of the People Adviser 

Key Duties / Responsibilities
• Act as People Partner to all departments, building the HR skills and capability of line managers through providing guidance, training and coaching 
• Meet line managers to review their team performance and identify any people issues so they can be resolved as early as possible 
• Work with line managers to review departmental structures quarterly, which support the delivery of business strategy, headcount and budget requirements
• Working with the L&D Manager support the identification and development of talent across Head Office and Warehouse, to improve the talent pipeline, capability, succession planning and internal growth
• Partner with the Resourcing Team and line managers to ensure all vacant roles have updated job descriptions and are benchmarked ahead of recruitment taking place and reflect Department needs 
• Support line managers to facilitate the delivery of people KPI’s across the business including the delivery of annual performance management targets (objective setting, half year and end of year reviews) 
• Input to the annual Warehouse People Plan, ensuring it is delivered in a timely manner
• Work closely with the L&D Manager and Resourcing Manager to ensure that key updates from meetings with line managers are shared to ensure that an integrated people plan is provided across all elements of the People Team 
• Champion employee engagement and work closely with line managers to ensure communication of survey results and action planning remains a key focus for the business. Work with line managers to increase employee engagement levels across Head Office and Warehouse so that the Times Top 100 and/or survey scores are improved for each Department year on year 
• Gain regular updates from the People Advisor on all people related casework, flexible working applications and maternity.  Act as an escalation point for Head Office and all complex issues, ensuring all employee relations issues are successfully resolved to mitigate risk
• Manage complex cases and attend formal meetings when needed, ensuring that the relevant process is followed and paperwork is completed  
• Work with the Senior People Team to plan and execute of the annual pay review cycle and annual bonus schemes
• Produce monthly reports with analysis as required and contribute to the completion of the monthly People Report 
• Travel to Dunstable Warehouse (a minimum of once per month) and occasional travel to offsite meetings

Projects: 
• Work with the HR Manager and Head of People and take a lead in Company projects and initiatives including wellbeing and smart working 

People Management
• Effectively coach, develop, and set objectives for the HR Advisor, providing day to day support  
• Take ownership for conducting regular 1:1 meetings and appraisals in a timely manner, setting clear and achievable (SMART) objectives and ensuring a development plan is in place

Essentials
Experience 
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience within a Senior HR Advisor or similar role working with Head Office functions 
• Experience of having advised and coached Line Managers on a broad range of HR issues 
• Previous experience of logistics or warehouse would be an advantage

Knowledge 
• Level 5 CIPD qualification would be desirable 
• Up-to-date and thorough knowledge of employment legislation 
• Full UK Driving Licence is essential as some travel will be required

Skills 
• Able to demonstrate a track record of delivery of outcomes which drive business performance
• Excellent communication skills with evidence of building great working relationships with line managers and employees at all levels through effective business partnering
• Good MS Office Skills and some experience of having used a HRIS
• Ability to put together and give interesting presentations 
• The ability to produce clear and comprehensive written communications 
• Ability to influence
• Excellent investigative skills 
• Able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail 
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and juggle priorities 
• Experience of using Oracle HRIS
• Experience of managing projects
